VW house owners affected by emissions testing: what to do

The VW Group includes the brands VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT. Diesel vehicles with EA 189 EU5 engines are affected.

VW has registered the issue with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the UK government agency responsible for overseeing vehicle safety recalls and deficiencies.

If you own an affected vehicle, VW will contact you to let you know:

  • what to do next
  • who to turn to

You don’t have to pay to fix the problem.

Protection of the public

Paul Satoor, Deputy Managing Director of DVSA, said:

Protecting the public is our priority. We have clear processes for dealing with vehicle recalls.

The DVSA will regularly check which steps VW has taken to contact the owners and how many affected vehicles have been corrected.
