This is What The Coronavirus R Fee Is Close to You

England’s Covid-R rate has increased slightly, scientists advising the government said.

Official numbers released on Friday suggest the nationwide R-rate is between 1.0 and 1.2. Last week it was between 1.0 and 1.1.

R measures the average number of people that each sick person will infect.

When R is greater than 1, the epidemic is generally increasing; if R is less than 1, the epidemic shrinks.

If R is 1, the epidemic stays the same.

Such is the R-phrase in every region of England

In England the R-rate is between 1.0 and 1.2 (from 1.0 to 1.1)

East England – 1.0 and 1.2 (from 0.9 to 1.1)

London – 1.0 to 1.2 (unchanged)

Midlands – 1.0 to 1.2 (from 0.9 to 1.0)

Northeast and Yorkshire – 0.1 to 1.1 (increased from 0.8 to 1.0)

Northwest – 1.0 to 1.3 (from 1.0 to 1.2)

Southeast – 1.0 to 1.2 (from 0.8 to 1.0)

Southwest – 0.8 to 1.1 (from 0.9 to 1.1)

The estimates are provided by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) and the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC).

Sage and DHSC said “extra caution” should be exercised in interpreting the regional estimates in England.
