Rose Ayling-Ellis Wows Strictly Judges With By no means-Seen-Earlier than Transfer As She Collectively Tops Leaderboard

Rose Ayling-Ellis stunned the Strictly Come Dancing jury when she performed an unprecedented move on Saturday night.

The EastEnders star danced a love-actually-inspired American Smooth to Natalie Cole’s This Will Be An Everlasting Love during the live quarterfinals.

At a certain moment Rose and partner Giovanni Pernice came off hold and she ran up to him and jumped in the air so that he could catch her by the arms.

Immediately after the performance, co-host Tess Daly said the show had “never seen” an elevator like this, to which Craig Revel Horwood said, “Absolutely amazing, this elevator. I thought the whole routine was absolutely great, wonderful storytelling.”

Shirley Ballas commented, “You have done an accomplishment of your life. There was a point in the air where they weren’t touching, that’s really a leap of faith. “

Co-host Claudia Winkleman reiterated that the move hadn’t previously been made on the show, calling her “brave” before Giovanni admitted he “missed” her a few times during rehearsals.

In the end, the couple achieved 39 out of 40 possible points and landed on the joint first position in the ranking.

They shared the top spot with Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu, who wowed the jury with their Argentine tango set for Phil Collins’ In The Air Tonight.

After being on the dance-off last week, Shirley said, “I just want to hold you and say, well done. You have been down several times and I think it has humiliated you every time you better come back. “

Craig added, “I thought you did a fantastic job I have to say.”

There were a few slips over the course of the evening, however, with both AJ Odudu and John Whaite lying with the elevators during their appearances.

AJ and her partner Kai Widdrington landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with 30 points for their Salsa to Gloria Estefan’s Rhythm Is Gonna Get You.

John and his partner Johannes Radebe scored 32 points for their salsa set for Sister Sledges We Are Family.

Meanwhile, Dan Walker and Nadiya Bychkova sat between the two with a score of 31 for their Argentine tango to Santa Maria by Gotan Project.
