Richard Ayre reappointed to the BBC Belief

The reappointment of Mr. Ayres was made by Her Majesty the Queen by order of the Council, on the advice of the DCMS Ministers by the Prime Minister.

Biographical information

After a career as a broadcast journalist in Northern Ireland and London, Richard Ayre spent eight years as a founding board member of the Food Standards Agency. In 2008 he joined Ofcom and became chair of the program appeals committee. He was chairman of the Article 19 Freedom of Expression Charity and has served as the Freedom of Information Judge for The Law Society for the past 13 years. In 2010 he left Ofcom to join the BBC Trust
